Get out of Debt, and Stay out of Debt.
What can I do to ensure success in my Debt Consolidation/ Debt Management Program?
Make your deposits on time. Auto-Debits from an account provide the most timely, convenient, and dependable way of making a payment. By directly debiting your monthly payment from your checking or savings account we can give the creditors an exact day that they can expect their money. We no longer will accept money orders, cashier checks or personal checks due to the inconsistency that they can cause.
Stay in touch. Contact A New Horizon immediately if any accounts are turned over to collections agencies. Also if any creditor notifies you of an account number change or address change. If you don't understand something about your creditors mailings or statements, call A New Horizon.
Don't make any payments directly to your creditors unless you have discussed this with your counselor first. All payments should be made through your Debt Consolidation/ Debt Management Program. If a payment is made outside of the program your creditors may assume you are no longer enrolled and change your credit card accounts back to the original minimum payments and interest rates before you enrolled.
Update personal information. Contact A New Horizon immediately with any changes in name, address, telephone number, email, bank account ect…
Don't miss deposits or make late deposits for any reason. If you do, your creditors may charge fees, raise interest rates, and report delinquency. The may also cancel you from the Debt Consolidation/Debt Management Program and resume their normal collections activities and regular interest rates from before you enrolled.
Closely monitor your creditor’s statements. It is up to you to monitor your monthly statements to ensure creditors have reduced interest rates and or stopped late fees and payments are being credited properly. If your creditors reduced interest rates and fees it may take up to three months before these reductions are noted on your statements. Keep all statements in a folder for future reference.
What If I want to cancel my Debt Consolidation/Debt Management Program?
Our program is a voluntary plan on your part, our part and your creditors part. If you choose to withdraw, please notify us and A New Horizon in writing and we will send you a reply confirming your request. We will notify your creditors of your choice to withdraw from the Debt Consolidation/Debt Management Program, you will then be responsible for making new payment arrangements with your creditors.
